Dr. Joseph Nicolosi Jr., who submitted an amicus curiae brief in the Chiles v. Salazar case alongside the Reintegrative Therapy Association, authored an opinion piece for The Christian Post titled “I’m a licensed clinical psychologist. This SCOTUS case is deeply concerning,” in which he argues that the Supreme Court case raises fundamental questions about therapeutic freedom, free speech, and clinicians’ ability to help clients with unwanted same-sex attraction without government interference.
In his opinion, Dr. Joseph Nicolosi Jr. emphasized that voluntary, client-led talk therapy should remain protected and that broad therapy bans can negatively affect confidential client-therapist conversations, framing the case as a pivotal moment for both constitutional rights and the future of psychotherapeutic practices.
